Cougars

The cougar also known as the puma is a mammal with a habitat ranging from Yukon to Andes in southern America. It is the second heaviest cat in Northern and Southern America after the jaguar. Although the cougar is large it is more related to the smaller cats than the big ones. This cat likes rocky and  underbrush areas but it can also live in open areas. They are born with many spots but as they get older the spots start to fade until they are gone.

Black panthers

The black panther is just a big black cat. In Latin America they are black jaguars, in Asia and Africa they are black leopards and in North America they can be either black jaguars or cougars. It is not proved that there are black cougars but some think there might be. If you look closely you will see that the panther is not entirely black. It also has spots which are darker than the other fur and can be seen at close.

Cheetahs

The cheetah is unique in its speed and lacks climbing skills. It is the fastest land animal, reaching speeds between 112 and 120 km/h (70 and 75 mph). In short distances of 460 m (1,510 ft) the cheetah can accelerate from 0 to 103 km/h (64 mph) in three seconds, faster than most supercars. You would not want to race with these cats because you will definately lose!

Jaguars

The jaguar is one of the four big cats. The jaguar is the third-largest feline after the tiger and the lion, and the largest in the Western Hemisphere. It can be found from Mexico across much of Central America and south to Paraguay and Argentina. The cat may seem to look like the leopard, but it is usually larger and of sturdier build. Its behaviour and habitat are more close to those of the tiger. The jaguar will range from a variety of forests to open terrain and it also likes to swim like the tiger. The jaguar has a very powerful bite, even relative to the bigger cats. This helps it pierce the shells of armoured animals. So be careful!

Leopards

The leopard is the smallest of the four big cats, the other three being the tiger, lion and jaguar. Once distributed across eastern and southern Asia and Africa, from Siberia to south Africa, the leopards range has decreased because of hunting. The leopard has relatively short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar to the appearance of the jaguar. The difference is that the leopards spots are smaller and more packed than those of the jaguar. It can reach speeds up to 58 kph (36 mph). It can also climb up trees while carrying a large carrcass. A beautiful but dangerous cat.

Tigers

The tiger is the biggest of the four big cats. Reaching up to 3.3 metres (11 ft) in total length, weighing up to 300 kg (660 lb), and having canines up to 4 inches long. Aside from their great bulk and power, their most recognisable feature is a pattern of dark vertical stripes that overlays near-white to reddish-orange fur. Tigers have a lifespan of ten to fifteen years but can live 20 years in captivity. Three of the nine subspecies have gone extinct and the remaining six are classified as endangered. This is one of the most beautiful cats and people keep killing it for many reasons. Almost every part of it can be sold including the fur and claws.

At some plasces it is endangered. Lions live from ten to fourteen years. In captivity they can live up to 20 years. The lion is also well known as the king of the jungle. This is one big cat you dont want to have problems with.
